Bonnie Flythe has written up a scholarly account of the Michael Johnson Family that includes the marriage of John Johnson to Mary Pledge. "John married her before 1720, probably in Henrico County." Mary was the daughter of John Pledge and Dorothy (---), as is shown in the John Pledge will of 1720 in Henrico County.
I have several accounts of the ancestry of this John Pledge that suggest his ancestry goes back to Nicholas Pledge, but nothing that assures me that this has been documented. Can anyone provide documentation?
