I checked The History of the Platter Family and found an entry for Bathsheba Platter, born in 1824. Married Harvey Allen. No record of her descendants was given. According to the author, Rev. Platter, she was the daughter of Jacob Platter, born Washington Co., Pa., 1792, and Hannah (Cox) Platter. Also gives info on Bathsheba's eleven brothers and sisters and some of their children. She had an older brother, Nicholas H. Platter, born 1818. He would have been too young to be my great-great-grandfather, but they were probably related. Please send me everything you have on the Platter family, including birth and death dates, geographic locations, and even middle names. The Platters often used surnames as given names and these names are valuable clues to other associated families. I will send you a copy of the book, probably next Saturday. It's a xerox copy and I'll need your snail mail address to send it. You can e-mail your address to me at: [email protected]
You will be very pleased with the coverage of your wife's ancestor, I believe. When I hear from you, I will e-mail my mailing address in case you also have paper copies to send me.
