The father of George Washington Platter, Sr was Lewis Platter born in Prussia, his wife's name was Margaret and she was born in PA (she was PA Deutsh). George Washington Platter married Hannah Moore Phillips in Shelby county IL in 1870. (He gave my mother his marriage license receipt.) Their first son Claude Lusty Platter was born in IL but the family moved to MO by (I think 1873-from his Union pension papers) where the rest of the children were born. Uncle George married Aunt Doll in Van Zandt county TX where if I remember correctly Arthur was born. He and Uncle Henry had moved to MI by ca 1926 and were lived there when their father died at the home of my grandmother, Sarah Ann Platter Dobbs in Terrell, Kaufman, TX. I remember your grandparents visits to TX as there was always some excitement concerning the visits. Hadn't Uncle George lost a thumb in some industrial accident? Aunt Doll's brother William K Bobbitt married Florence Irene Platter, George's sister. He died in early 1920s and is buried in Van Zandt county next to George Washington Platter. Aunt Florence lived with my grandparents for many years. BTW, Mother has a picture of Mrs. Bobbitt- Doll and William K Bobbitt's mother. I think they came from AL. Mother is 92 and I've been going through many of her old cards and letters. I had done some research on the Platter family over 7 years ago but have recently been filling in the blanks. I will post more later as I've left my Platter info at her house. I live in Houston, TX. Where do you live? Janie
