Hi Kathleen - thanks for getting back to me. The problem is that I do not think our branches of the Platt family descend from Richard Platt of Milford as does yours. Ours come down from Frederick Platz/Platts of Germany/Killingworth, CT and his wife Elizabeth Fox of New London, CT. Some believe that that Frederick Platts is a great-grandson of Deacon Richard through his son Isaac, but there is no documentation for this. So, DNA is, I guess, the only way this problem will be solved. I don't know that much about the DNA test except that I can only trace the female side and the male line must come from a male.
