The "three brothers" story is interesting, going along with the "shipwrecked three times" story. What they do have in common is that both say the fellow came from Germany, or more specifically, the Rhineland. I'd still like to see a lot more solid evidence than that.

Yes, where did the other two brothers go?

As far as the triple name convention goes, it could be that Frederick just went by that name over here, as that was the convention among the English Puritans he settled among, to have just one given name. Also, that he named a son Obadiah.

I'm not ruling out the possibility that he could have been one of the Rowley, Mass. Platts (with the "s").

A DNA test is really needed.
