William Snyder, raised by Platners in IN

I am looking for any information on William Oscar Snyder. He was born April 1870, and orphaned soon after.

I have found an 1870 census record that I believe shows him, orphaned at age 4 months, and in a poor house where also reside a Abraham Snyder, 3 years old, and a Catherine Snyder, deaf and blind, age 65.
Our William, so we are told, was taken in and raisesd by a Plattner/Platner family, in Indiana, and later married Julia Ann/Anne Philips, and moved to Morgan County, Alabama with their young family.
We are told that they married (William & Julia Anne) in Columbia City, Whitley Co, IN, and that their children were born there, though I can find no census record that shows them. Their sons were named Otis Eugene and Martin Claudus, at least one of them is said to have been named for one of the Platner/Plattners that William was raised by or with.
If anyone has any info that would help me locate this family in IN, or info on William's ancestors, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you.
