Thanks Jim for those additional lines. I'll look them up and work with them as I have time. Would you have more specific details in your database, from line IX, Dagobert (St.) II, k. of Austrasia, to line XV, Hadrian, c. of Orleans? I'm thinking if you like you might email me those portions. I can accept a Gedcom, or a Word version. Thank you very much. You know, we could explore this Frankish ancestor base of Plantagenets for some time...the entire picture is very interesting, and majorly time consuming to study it all. I'd like to give one more line from my database [this material is, again, based largely upon Tompsett's files, which I find basically good and very easy to work with]. If you find more "holes" let me know, and I'll get to work on the problems as I have time. This next is not necessarily for you, Jim. It's primarily aimed at "newbies" and listserv "lurkers." I'm going to step up to the plate right here, and pronounce my "caveat." Nothing I post in here, past, present, or future, should be considered "authoritative," though I have made every effort to get to the best sources I could locate at the time. Those who pick up what's put in a forum such as this one and plug it in their databases perhaps deserve what they get: not a lot, for little investment. Nothing that is posted here, from any of us, is primary evidence, nor would it even stand as secondary source material. I give people the benefit of the doubt and assume that because they arrived here, they at least have the intelligence to understand what constitutes evidence, and what is simply conversation. I like to learn, and explore, and sometimes when I feel I do have something of value to contribute, or something I have a question on, I'll post it here for consideration and reflection from those who might be interested. OK, back to genealogy. I have a couple other lines of Plantagenet descent from the Merovingians as follows. First, taking up your line from line VIII, St. Sigebert, here is: IX. Berswinde of the Franks (f.) X. Aldelbertus, d. of Alsace XI. Luitfrid I, d. of Alsace XII. Luitfrid II, c. of Upper Alsace XIII. Hugues II, "Le Mefiant," c. of Upper Alsace XIV. Ermengarde, c. of Tours XV. Louis II, Holy Roman Emperor XVI. Ermengarde of Italy XVII. Louis III, "The Blind," Holy Roman Emperor (we visited Louis here recently) XVIII. Charles Constantine, c. of Vienne XIX. Constance of Vienne XX. Guillaume I, c. of Provence XXI. Constance of Provence XXII. Henri I, Capet, k. of France XXIII. Philip I, Capet, k. of France XXIV. Louis VI, k. of France XXV. Louis VII, k. of France XXVI. Marie de France [celebrated for her participation in the chivalric "Courts of Love," and daughter of one of the most powerful woman of the Middle Ages, Alianore d'Aquitaine] XXVII. Theobald III, Count Palatine XXVIII. Theobald I, k. of Navarre XXIX. Henri I, k. of Navarre XXX. Joan I, q. of Navarre XXXI. Isabella of France XXXII. Edward III, PLANTAGENET, k. of England Also, if one takes the line from Marie, sister of XXVII above (& wife of Baldwin IX, emperor of Byzantium), in six generations I find among her descendants Philippa of Hainault, wife of Edward III.
