John,

I have one address and one lead. Both were on my desk yesterday, but I seem to have mislaid them; however, I shouldn't have too much trouble finding this information again.

I think sending a copy of your paper is a good idea. As to who might carry weight with whom, I can only say that DNA testing is sometimes a hard sell, even when one is approaching relatives one knows well and testing is free. I had some experience with that earlier this year. I think time and greater general public knowledge of what testing does and doesn't do will mitigate some of the concern many people seem to have about it--at least I hope so. One (possibly small) problem I see when approaching strangers for a DNA sample is that, since one is asking a favour of them, one should probably be in the position of offering a free test as a matter of courtesy--not that this will help where the prospective participant fears what the tests may reveal about him. I think younger members of the Somerset family are more likely to agree than older members, and the professor (or former professor) might be most likely of all. When I find the information I had, I will e-mail it to you. Do you think sending a list of prospects and/or addresses might help motivate Bryan Sykes?

Lindsey
