Scott,
As you may be aware from my previous messages on this list, I am interested in Y-DNA testing anyone who may be a male-line descendant of the Plantagenets. If any such person can be persuaded to participate, they can complete an on-line form at..

We have one Warren volunteer so far for whom results are awaited - there is a delay of a couple of months between returning a mouth swab and the results being ready.
We also have one Waring who has matched with most Plants at the 12/12 level of resolution and who is now extending his test to the 25 marker level of resolution. This Waring currently lives in the USA but the genealogical records indicate that he is descended from the Shrewsbury Warings (Shropshire, England) whose pedigree, according to the Heralds Visitation of 1623, dates back to Warin, Lord of Ondeslow, Co.Salop, fl 1298. There have been various conjectures about this Warin's ancestry, and that of a neighbouring FitzWarin, and the latest conjectures are bringing in the Warrens of Poynton, descendants of the Warren-Plantagenet earls of Surrey, with an historical background of their feud with the Lancastrians from c1320 and the battle of Shrewsbury 1403.
Further volunteers, to supply Y-DNA samples in connection with claimed male-line descent from the Plantagenets and for Warren-like and Waring-like names, would be welcome.
Regards,
John
