REV. THOMAS MANNING PLANT
Hi there,
I'm Judith Daft nee Bridger.I've been working on my family tree on both my mother and my father's side. My mother was Ruth Anne Bridger nee Plant. She always asked me to try and find out her father's line of the Plant's but I could never get past his parents who I don't even have any dates for. He was a well known figure in his area, known as the 'tinker farmer" so it would be interesting to find out more about him so I wondered if anyone might have some family connections to him somewhere.
My grandfather was REV. THOMAS MANNING PLANT. he was born the 25 of April 1870 and died 11 Nov. 1946 in Wellow Hampshire at the church where he was last the vicar St Margarets He was the son of a northcountry farmer it says in a newspaper cutting I have of my mothers when he was ordained as deacon he went to British Honduras 1894. He also served in Canada and Australia when it was very primative. He was a vicar in Argentina for some years where he met my grandmother. Ethel Flora Bridger 1910. after the death of his first wife. Then returned to Hampshire England and was at the Theddingworth Vicarage. During the war years he took up contract ploughing and he lost his eldest son by his first marriage George Bede Hornby Plant in the war who died in action and is buried in france, I don't know what his mother's surname was only have her first two names as Hannah Isabel. His father is John William Plant married to Lydia Coxhill but I have no dates for them and nothing any further back. His children were Ruth Anne Plant b. 1921 (my mother) married to my father John Harold Stirling Bridger,Michael Denys Plant b. 1925 he died a year later, David Robert Peter Plant he didn't marry b. 1918. Mary Consuelo Plant married to Fred Cooper b. 1916, Kathleen Flora Plant married to Phillip Rayner b. 1913, Aminta Lydia Plant married to Alan Pierce b. 1911 so there you have it I hope you can help me with some information so I can find my roots on that family branch...
thankyou in anticipation.
