I have a genealogy book on Planck, compiled by Nellie Plank, 1973 and my husbands family is in it.On page 16 it states:There is confusion concerning the relationship of the Blanks and Planks.John Horsch listed Blank as a Mennonite Palatinate name of Swiss origin.Christian Blank was an active participant on the Amish side of the Ammann-Reist controvery in Switzerland in 1693.The name Blank was found among South German Mennonites as late as 1940.In America some members of the family changed the name to Plank. On page 107 it states:Johannes Planck and his wife were on the 1710 New York Subsistance list. They had arrived from Holland in 1710 with other Palatine Germans, etc. etc. and he is listed as Johanes Blanck, his wife Maria Margretha and three children living in Beckmansland in the New York Mohawk Valley. There is a lot of confusion on the surname Planck, Plank, Blank and I found a Johann Melchoir Blankenberg, also known as Melchoir Plank.
