FYI -- this should be the William Pixler of Union, Butler Co NE in 1880; he is listed as age 51 VA VA PA (wife - Mary; ch: William H, Charles, Ellsworth, Minnie, Harriet)

Mexican War, 1846-1848, over 78,000 Americans served....some records of Indian War veterans are included with Mexican War soldiers and many Mexican War soldier records are integrated into the Civil War records; The subject of this compilation is a listing of veterans of the Mexican War and their widows who applied for a pension under the act of 29 January 1887. These pension applications were accepted until 1926. Pensions were provided for veterans who had served sixty days, or their unremarried widows. The Mexican War pensions filed DO contain family questionnaires.
