I am very interested in your post.I have several dead end ancestors and am intrigued by the fact that one of the ancestors named his son John Pittenger Smalley.
His name was John Smalley and he married Elizabeth Bradfield in Columbiana, Ohio very early in the 1800's.
They had several children and I know that John Smalley was born in New Jersey based on the census.
I do not know, however, who his parents were but can't help wondering if it wasn't Isaac Smalley that you reference in your post.
Do you have any thoughts on this?
Thanks you,
