Thanks for posting that! I never got around to sending for it, so I'm glad that you did.

There are a couple of discrepancies between this lineage for Amanda A. Pitner, and what I've got in my (admittedly incomplete and inaccurate) Pitner database.

I have her father as Adam Pitner (m. Rachel Campbell), but not Adam the son of Adam Harvey Sr. Pitner (son of John the immigrant), but rather the son of Adam H. Sr.'s brother John (son of John the immigrant) who m. Elizabeth Fifer.

To try to say this in a less confusing way, there seem to have been two Adam Pitners who were first cousins:

Adam (John2, John1) who married Rachel Campbell and had John Campbell, Prior L, Jane E., Amanda A., Andrew, Tennesse, and Albert Galatin

Adam (Adam2, John1) who married Elizabeth Scothern and had Betsy, Eliza, Lydia, Polly, Harriet, John, Nancy, Adam Harvey, Narcissus and Joseph

I also have another husband for Amanda A. Pitner. She apparently married Joseph Chambers in 1958, and had Mary Jane Chambers, and an infant boy who died. Joseph Chambers died in 1864. I have no marriage date or children for David Hix, and no record at all of the O'Dell.

If anyone out there is from these families and can confirm/prove any of these facts or scenarios, please let us know!

I think you're right, Keith, that one of the brothers of John the immigrant probably survived the war and added to the confusion. I am just grateful that the third son of John1, Michael, didn't name any of his children Adam or John, or there would be no untangling this at all.

cheers, Judith
