By an amazing coincidence, I just came across a reference to George W. Pitner of Ohio in a letter from 1889 written by Franklin Rubel Pitner (I have posted the full text of this letter elsewhere). he writes: "I saw that Mr. Cleveland vetoed a pension bill for George W. Pitner, of Rockport, Ohio, last fall." Somehow George's pension was national news. This isn't my family, but I'd love to have a copy of his pension records, just to try to figure out what the full story was.
