Aflred A Pitman and Elizabeth - Hotel Keepers

I am looking for information on Alfred A Pitman and his wife Elizabeth. They appear in the 1850 Census of Alleghany County, VA. He is listed as a "landlord and farmer". He was the propriertor of the "Pitman Callaghan Tavern" in the Callaghan section of Alleghany County. However, he moved on to Rockbridge County, VA in the 1860 Census where he again is listed as "Hotel keeper" in the Lexington township. In 1880 Alfred and Elizabeth have moved to Rockingham County, VA and again is lised as "Hotel Keeper". It appears he was born in VA. He is 45 in 1850 and 56 in 1860, and 65 in 1880.
I am not related to this family, however, I am searching for information on the Callaghan Tavern, an Alfred is listed at the proprietor in the registry for the tavern around 1858.
Any help regarding Alfred or Elizabeth would be appreciated.
