John - thanks for your response and insight. I do think we are from Germany. The Gotlieb/Peter Pitcher connection makes sense but I still can't figure out what the link is between Gotlieb and David Lester Pitcher. If Gotlieg was born in the mid 1700's then he would've had to have been in his 80s when he had David Lester Pitcher. Also, George Washington Pitcher of this line was born in Feb 1864, more than 50 years after your George W.
