The only Pitcher family in Amenia in the 1820 US census is that of Isaac Pitcher. This family has a son of the right age to be Alanson. Isaac died in 1825 and is buried in Sharon, Ct, where the Pitchers had connections into the 20th century. Also, the fact that one of Alanson's son's is named Isaac strongly suggests a link between Isaac and Alanson. Perhaps surrogate and land records might provide additional information.
