Do you happen to have any info regarding Pitchers that started out in Rhineback (or Rhinebeck?), Duchess County, New York and ended up in the central part of the lower peninsula in Michigan?

William Betzer       1725       1800       Born Rhineback, Dutchess Co, NY
Peter Pitcher       1750       1829        Born Rhineback, Dutchess Co, NY
Jacob Pitcher       1796              Born Berne, New York
Peter Pitcher       1831       1831       Born Berne, New York

The family name apparently started out as Bitzer, then changed to Betzer, then Pitcher. I'm curious to know what "Betzer" is supposed to mean, the country of origin, and why the name ever changed to Pitcher.

Thanks for whatever info you may have.

Charlie Pitcher
