I am interested in the Pitcher who married Eunice Whitehead, daughter of Nathaniel B. Whitehead and Elizabeth Trim Whitehead, in Oswego County, New York. (This Whitehead family lived in Fabius, Onondaga Co., N.Y., from the early 1800s to about 1820, when they moved to the Volney and Palermo area, and later to Mexico, all in Oswego County, N.Y.)
Family records show that Eunice and her husband had 4 or 5 children, Electra, Jane, Lester, Philinda and another.
On the 1850 census, Eunice (spelled Unice by the census enumerator) was listed as age 44 years, so presumably she was born around 1806. I do not know the name of the Pitcher man whom Eunice married.Eunice is listed in the 1850 census as living in the household of Mr. and Mrs. Smith Tilden in Mexico, N.Y., and her daughter, Philinda, age 24, lived with her grandparents, N. B. and Betsey Whitehead in Mexico. In 1850, Jane Pitcher, age 16, was living in the household of Alfred B. Mason in Palermo, N.Y.
I was at first sidetracked by the fact that there is a Eunice Pitcher listed in Cayuga County on the 1850 census.I now think that the "Unice" Pitcher cited in Oswego County is more likely to be the daughter of Nathaniel and Elizabeth Whitehead, due to the close proximity of the towns of Volney, Palermo, and Mexico where the Whiteheads were known to have lived, and the fact that "Unice" Pitcher lived in Mexico in 1850.
In your records of the Pitcher families in Oswego County, do you have any of these names?I will appreciate any information.
