Pitcher Family Genealogy Forum
Dear Glenda, I too have been trying to untangle these same Pitchers of Washington & Woodbury Ct... and what a tangle they are too. They desc. from Andrew & Margaret Pitcher of Dorchester MA through their s. Samuel m. 1) Alice Craig of Dorch or Roxbury through their son Samuel who marries Elizabeth Worth of Roxbury. Sam & Liz leave the area of Dorchester & Roxbury and migrate to NORWICH CT. They have Jerusha b. ca. 1705 m. John Baker, Capt Jonathan b. ca. 1707 m. 1733 E. Bridgewater MA Mehitable Pettingill(about whom I would like alot more info), Ebenezer b. ca. 1708 m. ___ had kids in Norwich, Benjamin m. Grace ___ & moved to Washington, James m. Elizabeth (poss. Truman)[these are poss. your best bet], Elizabeth b. 1 Apr. 1719 in Norwich, Marcy b. ca. 1720 m. William Armstrong of Norwich had a bunch of kids, Joanna b. June 7, 1723 nfr, Lydia b. Aug. 18, 1725 nfr, Sarah b. Mar. 20, 1728 nfr. I haven't got very far with these and I'm still beating on them. There was poss. a s. Samuel as well b. say 1715 m. ca. 1742 Hannah ____ & they moved to Washington & Woodbury as well. That Sam m.2) Abigail_____ Ch: of Sam & Hannah... Deliverance b. 1743 & Hannah b. 1745 & w/ 2nd w. Abigail he had Isaac b. 1749. I still haven't found a link into my line over in Sharon Ct. yet but my bet says you are likely to desc. from either this last named Samuel or Benjamin or james, all sons of Sam & Elizabeth Worth Pitcher of Norwich. The trail for me really breaks down in Norwich and I haven't had time to go there or to Washington to really look at public records. Hope this helps some... There's a pretty good book which came out recently called The Pitcher Family of Milton Massachusetts Andrew and Some of his Descendants by Grace Whipple Pitcher.
It does pretty well by the early generations, and you might want to try finding articles on Pitchers by Jane Fletcher Fisk in the NEHGS Register. Good luck and keep posting on the web. kind regards, sara doherty
