I don't know if you have "resarched" the Pitcher surname, but it is occupational in nature. The workmen who put the "pitch" on the ships were called pitchers. Sorry, I can't help you with your line, but my Pitchers were dock workers from the Norfolk(UK) area. Once again, connected with the sea.
