His family listing is as follows:Jacob Birkle 1706-_ w. Dorothea children Catherina (1727-_ Barbara (1730-__ John Jacob Birkle (January 7, 1734-ca. 1811) Michael Leonhardt Birkle (August 20, 173 6-January 7, 1820) Anna Eva (May 8, 1739-_)Maria Dorothea (November 27, 1741-_ Elizabeth (December 24, 1743-___ _) We know from the Stoever records that the baptism of John Jacob, Michael Leonhardt, Anna Eva and Maria Dorothea took place in the Swatara congregation of the Lutheran Church at Jones Town. Elizabeth was baptized in the Evangelical Lutheran congregation at Quitapohila (Quitebehoehle), which is in Lebanon Township. In 1797 Michael Pirtle's family sold their property in South Carolina a nd moved to their new home in Western Kentucky. How they traveled from Gre enville Coounty, South Carolina to Christian Coounty, Kentucky, is not kno wn. Besides Michael Pirtle,(his wife, Barbara, had died in 1796); his sons, Jacob, Martin, Peter, Michael,Jr., and daughter, Margaret (wife of John Cam mack), moved also. In "Perrin's History of Christian County, Kentucky.", it is stated th at on May 15,1798, that "a road was ordered from the mouth of the Cumberla nd River to the Christian Court House." On this road lived Michael Pirtle and he was asked to view this road for part of the way with William Pri nce (the founder of Princeton, KY).
