Hi Regina,
My mother is married to Robert Pipes whose father was Alfred Thomas Pipes b. 1908. I believe Robert grew up in Southern California (I will have to ask), at least his mother lived there from the 70's until she was quite aged, then she was moved to Rhode Island, I believe it was, into a home, closer to some other family. My mother told me Robert's father was from Rhode Island and his grandparents from Manchester England.
Her name was Marie Durand, and I believe she was French Canadian.
I don't have much more info on his family at this time (just started looking and haven't had a chance to talk to him in detail yet), but would love to find out if we have a match (sounds good so far).
