I'm looking for information on the above Pinney. I recently found his diary and the information I have so far: He was born Oct 21, 1842 he has at least one sister who lived in Port Allegheney, a brother and a father he wrote to. In 1877 till at least 1880 he was staying with the Avery's of Forest House, PA. The Avery's owned/ran a hotel and had 4 children (possibly pregnant in 1878 with a fifth child). The children's names were Clella (whom Mr. Pinney was in love with), Emogene (who was called Dottie), Ralph and Myrtie. In 1878 Mr. Pinney went to Couldersport to work as a bookkeeper at A.F. Jones & Sons till Dec of 1878, then he went back to live with the Avery's. In the 1880 cencus Mr. Pinney was listed as living with the Avery's (the cencus had his age wrong he would have been 38 then not 35 since I'm sure Mr. Pinney knew his own age/bdate when he was writing in his diary)he was listed as being a clerk. He talks extensively in his diary about the Avery's. I know from gen. sites that Clella married Charles Selwyn Briggs in 1886 and had a son Avery, in 1888. Perhaps any of the Avery descendents would have some information on Mr. Pinney? Any and all help is appreciated. Notify Administrator about this message?
