I'm a descendant of Rowan Co., N.C. (from Fairfax Co., Va., where Patriot Sgt. Shadrack Pinkston was also from) Pvt Wm Pinkston by son Pvt Meshack Pinkston, Sr., by son Jesse Pinkston, by son Pvt. Wm. Franklin Pinkston, CSA, who's daughter, Mary Ann Pinkston, wed Rev. John Abner Locke Miller. Patriot William Pinkston,Sr., may have had three wifes; one was Sussanah Coughenhour for whom there is a bastardry bond for Wm. Jr. They later married and under a peculiarity of N.C. law, that legitimized Wm. Jr. Also I espied an old newspaper squib that more-or-less said that Patriot Wm. Pinkston of the Revolution, age 60, married Miss (don't recall name), age 16. I don't know of any issue by her. One of my Miller ancestors in his old age wed a young girl and in the pre-marriage contract, in consideration that she be his nurse, she got one of his farms, provided his son Giles Ashby Miller could once per year, thresh his grain in the barn. My hunch is old Wm. Pinkston's last child bride marriage was simply for her to take care of him? I've seen the name of the other wife, but don't recall it. Jim, Southport, N.C.
