Hello Ed:
1. Where can I get listings of PINKNEY/PINCKNEYs buried at St. John's in Yonkers and at St. Paul's in Eastchester? Are there any published or on-line resources?
2. Looking beyond the mere gravestones & epitaphs, do you also know if the parish records (birth, baptism, confirmation, marriage, children, death, burial) of these two churches are extant? Is there a point of contact for any of these parish records?
3. Do you know how to access the parish records of Trinity Parish in New York City (after it was rebuilt following the disastrous 1776 fire)?
4. Am researching PINKNEYs and PINCKNEYs in Yonkers, in Eastchester, and in New York City, ca 1749-1835, and could really use some help. Am specifically interested in Wm. PINKNEY (1749-1811) and his wife Hannah DRAKE, married in 1773.
5. Wm. & Hannah seem to have baptised their three children (Stephen, 1776; Wm. Jr., 1780, and Israel, 1785) at Trinity Parish down in NYC where Wm. was a grocer and sold liquor, 1776-1811. However, this same Wm. PINKNEY also bought 50 acres of land up in Yonkers in 1799.
6. The 3rd son of Wm. & Hannah Drake, Israel PINKNEY (b. 1785 in NY & d. ca 1855 in Peoria, IL), however, baptised several of his children (Andrew, 1814, Stephen, 1816, and Simeon, 1818-1819) in a group or family ceremony up in Yonkers, at St. Johns Episcopal Church, on 26 August 1822.
7. This Israel Pinkney also was a grocer & retailler of liquor in NYC but sold his business ca 1818 and then in 1818 bought (from his widowed mother & brother Wm. Pinkney Jr.) the land up in Yonkers that his father had bought back in 1799. This same upright citizen, Israel Pinkney was subsequently a farmer, Justice of the Peace, Inspector of the Schools, and a delegate to make regulations to build one or more Houses for the Poor, etc., up in Yonkers, ca 1818-24. Thereafter he seems to drop from sight in Yonkers, but reappears in NYC in the 1829-1830 Manhattan NY City Directory.
8. This Israel Pinkney of both NYC & Yonkers seems to have been twice married. First to Catherine (mnu), who bore him a son, Israel Pinkney, Jr. Catherine thereafter seems to have died and Israel then married Elizabeth Poff/Paff/Pfaff, possibly the daughter of a German butcher, Andrew Paff or Pfaff, down in NYC. His move from the city grocery business up to the farm in Yonkers seems to have occurred after Israel's second marriage, ca 1812-13. Am looking for the parents of Israel's father, Wm. PINKNEY Sr. (1749-1811) and the parents of Wm. Pinkney Sr.'s wife, Hannah Drake, whom he married in 1773. I believe these roots and records lie in Eastchester and in Yonkers, Westchester County, New York.
Can you help?
