p. 228, September Court, 1808, Trial of Jerey and Dorcus, 2 negro slaves, the property of Andrew Patterson, on suspicion of grand larceny in stealing a sum of money from Charles Pinckard….Dorcus was found guilty and received 39 lashes on her bare back and burnt in the hand and delivered to her master. Jerey was found guilty and received 50 lashes on his bare back and burnt in the hand and delivered to his master.

p. 282, June Court 1809, Elias Pinckard v. Samuel Bird. The subpoena for John Bird Jr. to appear at this term as a witness for the plaintiff being returned, executed, and he not appearing at the solemnly called, on the motion of the plaintiff by his attorney, an attachment is awarded against him for his contempt, returnable here, tomorrow.
