Yes,I am interested in your story about George W. Maddox. Regarding the return of David and Mary Ann Maddox to MO: 1)on RootsWeb.com posted 18 Aug.2003, by Beverly Blum, there is a posting that says, "David took his family the southern route back to TX about 1862-1863. I think to return to MO and join the Confederate army (CA was Union). Mary Ann was killed by Indians on the return and he left his family with his sister-in-law, Nancy Maddox, m. to Sensibaugh. His brother-in-law who had traveled to CA with him went with him to MO. George Washington Maddox, 'Uncle Wash". 2) Another posting I've read says, he returned to MO to gather another group to take to CA. 3)David Piner married Matilda Blair, 1864, in Dade County, MO. So his return would have been about 1864. We think David and Matilda are the parents of Nancy E. Piner, my ggrandmother. Nancy was born in Wise Co., TX about 1867. David does not appear on any census that I can find after 1860, however, he was around 1866-1867 to sire Nancy. For some reason, she was dropped off with her step-sister, Sarah Missouri Piner Jones Henson and lived with Sarah until she married my ggrandfather, Ninnian Steel Hardin in 1881 in Bonham, Fannin Co., TX.
