thankyou for your reply. i have found my family back to 1786 when a john pilkington was born. a lot of the family was born in st. Helens, what i think could have happened, is that the family line of a brother or uncle of his began the business. it would be great to find out! my nan had a stroke so the information she gave me isn't very reliable because she gets confused. my great great great grandfather was called Coupe Pilkington and his son Robert W (Willie) Pilkington had a son called Robert, and he moved to Bridgwater in Somerset. I need to try and find some information circa. 1786 and before to find out which family line i need. so far no Margaret though! in the 1841 census there is a baby mentioned with John and Ann Pilkington but i can't make out the name it looks like Durand, but i can't research him. Regards, Linda.
