Hello, I have just posted this letter today to Deon Pilkington and browsing through I see that you are interested in the name Edward.
Perhaps this letter might interest you?
Hello Deon, I too am seeking info. about a family who lived in DARLINGTON, Victoria Place in 1871. John Pilkington was a silversmith and his second wife was Martha Hyde whom John, a widower, married in 1867. John had a brother EDWARD and a son EDWARD PILKINGTON.
They feature in 1881 and 1891 Censuses. Edward had moved to Gainford, Co. Durham. John and Martha had a son called HARRY born in Darlington - he was not registered, born in 1869 thereabouts.
Other clues involve another John Pilkington, a watchmaker who had a nephew Harry Hick working with him, same age as little Harry Pilkington but born in Leeds. He like his brother Edward, were born in HEIGHINGTON co. Durham.
More names; Edward, son by John's first wife, lived with his wife Mary Hannah nee Brown, at 63, Pensbury St. Darlington, also a watchmaker, had children:-
Ernest William, , Herbert Bristow, Percy John and Maud Mary.
Are these of any help or interest to you?
Sue
