Sarah Pilkington, b 1815 Lancashire

Hi,

Another Sarah Pilkington from Lancashire! The Sarah I am trying to trace married John Marsden a labourer (1851 census) and quarry man (1881 census) on the 5th Sept 1836 and is the mother of Betty, Anne, Elizabeth Ellen and Rachael Marsden.

Sarah was born in the Blackburn/Darwen/Bolton Area in 1815. Unfortunately ther are two possible candidates with very similar characteristics:

Candidate 1 was the daughter of Hugh Pilkington and Ann Amethurst and christened in "L. Bolton" on 30th July 1815.

Candidate 2 was the daughter of William Pilkington and Mary b 1st Jan 1815 at Blackrod -also near Bolton.

So far I don't know how to work out which of these two Sarahs is the one who married John Marsden given that this is the period just prior to civil registration.

Has anyone already figured this out?

Thanks

Phil
