IN MEMORIAM OF ROBERT LAWRENCE PILGRIM
THE MARLOW REVIEW, Marlow, Stephens County, Oklahoma
The subject of this sketch, R. L. Pilgrim, was born in Pickens County, S. C. near Pickensville on March the 8th, 1825. Departed this life March the 23rd, 1919, in Marlow, Oklahoma. Moved with his parents to Cherokee County, Georgia the year President Polk was elected.
In May, 1861 he enlisted in Co. H. 7th Georgia Regiment made up at Roswell Factory in Georgia.Thomas King was his Capt. Was mustered into service at Atlanta, Georgia and was sent to Harpers Ferry, Va.
He was in first Manassas battle in which Gen Barto was killed.He was in all the battles around Richmond, Va. Only ten of his company came out alive.
He served faithfully four years in Confederate Army. He returned home and remained one year and then left Georgia and went to Yell County, Ark. From there to Cook County Texas, then to Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory; for the last years near and in Marlow.
He was a member of the Methodist Church, serving his days and generation to a ripe old age.He was a faithful member of Stonewall Jackson Camp No.1759.
Farewell faithful comrade until we are marshaled together in Elysian Fields under the Captain of our Salvation. Peace be to his ashes.
