It took fifteen years for me to get a copy of the will of Richard Pile, the surgeon to Charles II. I was told by many at the Records Office in London that it did not exist, but on line two days ago, I found the will in the PCC index on the Public Records Office site. After paying three pounds for it, I was able to download the will right away. It only mentioned his wife, Elizabeth, and his son in law (step son) Richard Cooper. This adds further proof to the fact that the Richard Pile of Prince George's County, Maryland was not the son of Richard Pile, the surgeon, but in fact the son of Francis Pile, the Goldsmith of Truro.
