This family has been resident in Bolton on Dearne since the early 1400'stil 1900's. They were farmers and then Linen Manufacturers. Whilst family legend has it that they came from France with the Norman conquest, I have yet to trace that. My family, I proven records with the various spellings of Pygate, Pygot, Pygott and the unusual first names of Franciscus and Ricardo, I have yet to find a pure line, to 1066. There is no mention of any line that went to USA. Does anyone know from where they left? Has anyone a proven line from 1066?
