Jackie,
I've descended through the Abingdon Pigotts family of Granado Pigott and Anne Lacy. I thought you might be interested in the name Granado. It came from Sir James Granado, Kings Remembancer in court of Henry VIII - he died quite young apparently, leaving a widow and daughter Katherine. His widow remarried a widower, Sir Robert Chester (also at court of Henry VIII) and Katherine married his son, Edward (later Sir Edward) Chester. Their granddaughter, Frances Chester, married a John Pigott in 1630 in Hertfordshire and they called a son Granado. There was obviously some pride in the name as it was used again and again over the years. Even down to my g.grandfather, Granado George John Chapman born in 1829 and through several of his descendants here in Australia.
Regards,
Bev Garry, Sydney
