I'm trying to veryify an Abigail Pierson (of Elizabeth, NJ) in my tree and was about to post when I read this. I'm not related to Matthias Pierson (that can always change as I research more.) But while I was on Ancestry I looked your guy up for you. There really isnt anything on a Matthais Pierson born in the 1770's on any census that gives detailed info. There are 2 of Orange NJ that are born in the early 1800's, which could very well be Matthais Jr's son. NOW, there is a will at the NJ state Archives for a Matthias Pierson, Sr of NJ whose will was either made or proved (or both) in 1809. It is the same year as Dr Matthias died. This will could be your Dr Matthais Pierson 1734-1809, and if it is...it may very well contain the names of his children, daughter/son-in-laws or even his grandchildren (if any at the time.) My suggestion is for you to send away for the will if you cannot drive to Trenton. I just mailed a request yesterday for one of my Price relatives. I called the Archives first and spoke to a very friendly woman I got the number from the NJDARM website: http://www.state.nj.us/state/darm/links/archives.html The secretary said the check should be $10 made out to NJ General Treasury, mailed to NJ state Archives, pob 307, Trenton, NJ 08625. You must use the reference name and code for the Pierson will. There is an app online but she didn't say I had to use it. Ancestry Source: Index of Wills, Inventories, ect. in the Office of the Secretary of State prior to 1901. Pierson, Matthias, Sr., 10596G. W. 1809. OF COURSE I urge you to call the archives yourself, just to verify all the info. But for $10, I think that the will is a good investment and may possibly give you the info that you need. That's it...not all hope is lost!!! Andrea Price-Johnson Notify Administrator about this message?
