I am looking for information on my grandfather...Frank Joseph Pierpoint (Frank may be short for Francis). He was born in 1897/1898 and married my grandmother in York Ontario, Canada on July 31, 1919 at the age of 21. My dad, John Vernon Pierpoint was born in Oct 1921. We believe that Frank left the family in 1922. For a very long time, the family story was that Frank had died...however, over the years we have come to believe that this was not the case and that he had moved to the US. I also have not been able to find a death record in this timeframe. We have little information on Frank. The marriage certificate listed his father as Francis H. Pierpoint and mother as Emma Hutchinson Pierpoint. The marriage certificate also indicated a birthplace of Dublin, but I am certain that this is not the case.
Another confusing element is that he may be a Pierpont, although Frank clearly went by Pierpoint. Of course this may have been a transcription error.
I have found a 14 year old Frank Pierpoint in Ontario in the 1911 Census listed as a servant in another family which would fit the age parameters of the marriage certificate. There is also an Ontario death record of a Francis Harrison Pierpoint in 1899. These may be related and may be part of the family I am looking for, however, I still don't know what happened to my grandfather after 1922...did he have a second family, when did he die?
I would appreciate any information or advice you might have regarding this search.
