I would be interested to learn more about Frances Griffiths (nee Picton). Do you know when she was born or married? There are several minor Picton families in Martletwy and Carew parishes but there is no evidence, in my opinion, of them connecting into Sir Thomas Picton's ancestors before the seventeenth century at the earliest. There was a family in Carew descending from a William Picton (d. 1764) younger brother of Thomas Picton (d. 1727), grandfather of Sir Thomas Picton. This branch became extinct with the death of John Picton of Martletwy in 1809 as I recall, with lots of legacies in his will to Sir Thomas Picton and his brothers and sisters. I must confess that the only Frances Picton I can remember related to Sir Thomas Picton was his sister, Frances Picton, but she married into the Morris family and her husband died after about a year of marriage in 1788 [can look up details]. As Sir Thomas Picton died in 1815 we are also talking about spanning nearly 200 years now. I suggest she may have connected into one of these minor Picton families of Martletwy/Carew, as does my own interest in the surname.
