Hello Elizabeth, As far as I am aware, the John Pickup (born Sept 7, 1827) that you refer to as having married a Betty Lord, is from a different family to that of John George. I believe that this John Pickup is the son of another John Pickup (unfortunately I don't have his year of birth to hand) and his wife, Mary, formerly Eastwood. Apart from the children that you mention (George, Mary Alice, and Jared), I believe that they also had 4 other children, although I don't have birth certificates for them. The other children were Ann born ? 9th October 1855 and died ? 18th December 1856, Emma born ? 29th June 1861 and died ? 27th January 1862, Hannah born ? 11th August 1863 and died 21st June 1864, and Frederick born ? 27th June 1866 and died ? 19th August 1866. George (b.1853) married a Mary Jane Knowles on the 19th February 1874 at Goodshaw and I believe that they had 6 children that can be found on the 1881, 1891, and 1901 censuses. I have followed this line down quite a way to the present day. I believe Mary Alice (b.1857) died on the 13th October 1875, unmarried. Jared married a Mary Seed, formerly Jones, at Lytham on the 23rd October 1895. Jared and Mary can be found on the 1901 Census living at 38 Denmark Road, Southport. Jared's father, John Pickup, is also living with the couple as a widower. There are no children in the household at that time. I haven't come across the Hargreaves that you mention, since viewing your follow-up message. No doubt, given enough time, I could probably find it. Hoping that the above is of use to you.
