Hi Babe... I only have John A.Pickler in the family Bible.. I have seen it listed as Alexander and Anderson so I have just kept Anderson because his grandfather was Anderson F. and possibly could have been named for him. My g-grandmother was the first wife of John A. Pickler, son of Solomon O. Pickler and Annie Markland. My g-grandmother was Margaret Annie Howard/born July 18, 1871 in Rowan County, N. C.-married John A. Pickler March 17, 1900/died June 13, 1921 in Rowan County. Her son,(my Grandfather) was Robert Lee Howard, born Feb. 10, 1896 in Rowan County and died April 30, 1930 in Rowan County. He married Suzanne Jeanne Simon, born December 19, 1903 in Chaumont, Haute Marne, France. He met her there during WWI.I am the daughter of his second daughter, Marguerite Louise Howard.
I have their son, Dewey Glenn Pickler as being born November 4, 1902 in Rowan County, N. C. and died December 30, 1968 in Rowan County, N. C. Dewey married Grace Lyerly June 14, 1924 and I only have one son listed for them: Clyde Dewey Pickler, born 1927.
I am sorry, I have no more information on Patsy Smart.
John A. Pickler had two other wives according to the family Bible. He married Martha Deadmon June 27, 1922. According to the census records, she was a widowed neighbor of John's and Margarets in Spencer, N. C.She was born in 1859, which made her quite a bit older than John.He married the third time to Kate Nannie Bell August 11, 1927 in Rowan County, N. C.She was born September 11, 1866 and died December 13, 1954 in Rowan County, N. C.John, Kate, and Margaret Annie are buried together at the Franklin Presbyterian Chuch in Rowan County.Margaret Annie's mother, Mary Cozart Howard (Wife of Benjamin W. Howard) is also buried there near them.Martha Deadom (second wife) is not buried there and is probably buried somewhere with her family or her first husband.I don't know whether Martha's maiden name was Deadmon or that was the name of her first husband.I think it was the name of her first husband as she was listed as Martha Deadmon (widow) in the census records I saw. I have a list of 8 children for Solomon O. Pickler. If you are interested, I will send them to you.Solomon had three wives. Annie Lou Markland, Dec. 22, 1873, Margaret Myers, born March 20, 1861 and died Jan. 1, 1920, and Ellen ?? born September, 1862. All eight children, plus my great-grandmother were listed as living with Solomon and Ellen in the 1900 census. Hope this helps you some... Sue
