Gene,
Do you have any record of a Niles Pickel? I have just recently received information that he and his wife Mary Scoffield were the parents of my Eliza Pickel.
I don't have dates for Niles and Mary, but Eliza was born 16 November 1832 in Ontario, Canada. Census records indicate both of her parents were born in Vermont.
Eliza married William Nolan (marriage date unknown), presumably in Ontario. Their son Frank Nolan was born about 1857, Scugog Island, Durham County, Ontario. The next year, 1858, they immegrated to somewhere in Michigan. (In 1862, William is listed as being from Kalamazoo when he enlisted in the 3rd Michigan Cavalry. They later show up in Huron County, where the 1870 Michigan Census lists them living in New River.)
Eliza died in Dwight, Huron County, Michigan on 20 February, 1906. Her death record is where I found her parents listed as Mary Scoffield and Niles Pickel, although at one time, I had been told that her father's name was John.
Eliza and William's daughter Lena Isabel Nolan McDonald was my Great-Grandmother.
Any information is greatly appreciated.
