I'm a relation of Howell L. Pickett, and I'm trying to unsnarl my family's early connections in TN and VA. Howell L. Pickett engaged in genealogical research in his later years, and claimed to be the only surviving grandson of my gggg-grandfather Edward Pickett, who migrated to TN, perhaps in 1804. (I have a newspaper article that repeats this claim.)
Anyway, my question for you is where the information about his parents being Hugh Pickett and Louany Looper comes from? If these were really his parents (as well as Edward Bradford Pickett's), that fact would be very helpful in reconstructing my family's early associations. But I am worried that, at some point, Edward Bradford Pickett, b. 1823 in VA, has been confused with my uncle Edward Burke Pickett, b. 1823 in TN, and a false connection has been made.
