Thanks for the reply. Record keeping is hard and I doubt many of us would rise to the level of professional. Being a direct descendant, I believe you that Anna's name was Corbin.
I believe that Mississauga was the region where Daniel met Ms Ingersol. The River Credit region of the Home District. As a circuit rider, Daniel was living in the Government Inn, opperated by Thomas Ingersoll (who had received several hundred thousand acres in a land grant), Eliz's father. If you contact the Mississauga South Peel Historical Society, You may be able to get additional history about Daniel and his time in River Credit (later renamed Ingersoll) Canada.
Yes, the Methodist records indicate that Daniel was 'located' in 1809. At which time he apparently left the Methodist congregation and became a farmer. Apparently, he tried to start his own "Provinchinal Methodist" church and didn't rejoin the mainline methodists for almost 25 years.
The period from 1810 to 1822 is very obscure. He is reported to have won 220 acres in a Royal Land grant lottery and "went to Canada from his beloved New England" which suggests that he had returned to the US after his wife E F ingersoll died in 1811.
--Do you have any information about where Daniel and Anna married or where Anna was born?--
After winning a lottery "land grant on the north side of Mount Nemo"- different from the land grants given to the loyalists (to which he would have been entitled had he or his father been refugees to Canada), Daniel started the town of Lowville, Halton County, Ontario. His son, Thomas Ebenezer stayed in Lowville, became a follower of a phrenologist and as a result built the Pickett House, an octaganol structure which became an historical site. The octaganol house was supposed to be beneficial to his health and sexuality. It is reported that the house was built by Thomas Ebenezer and Daniel Pickett but I presume that was his son, Daniel, rather than his father, the Rev.
Since Thomas was born 1808 and stayed in Lowville when Daniel left for PA, Daniel may have still been in Canada in 1830 - strictly a guess.
I'm going to update my files with the information that you supplied. Thanks!
