My maternal grandfather had a brother named Joe Pickett, but he was many years older than your ancestor and was from NC. They had come from a Quaker family and moved into IN, then eventually to OK.
I was interested in your Pickett family, so I did a little searching. Am I right in believing that your Joe B. Pickett was from the Pickett family in Paulding County, GA? The name figures prominently in the Civil War, Battle of Pickett’s Mill. I have learned more history since I began genealogy research than I ever did in school.
