Thanks for the information. I am just getting started on the Pickett part of the family, and discovered this forum a few days ago. I am rather overwhelmed at the amount of data that there is. This is the first side of the family that goes so far back in this country. Most of them immigrated 1850-1900. I am having my local library locate a copy of "A Gathering of Picketts" (Vol. 1 & 2) I haven't verified much of the information I have found, but it looks like it is the same John Pickett. The book I referenced mentioned the Picketts in connection with the Karrick family. (John's daughter Ruth married Walter Karrick.) It said John was "a soldier during the Revolution", the Capt. part could have come later. As to Rachel's maiden name, right now I don't remember if I had the Carr before, or if I got from the book I referenced (edited by George MacKenzie, published by the Genealogical Publishing Company, Baltimore, 1966) John and Rachel's grandson was James H. Pickett. Heathcoat?? Henry?? The family trees I have found all refer to "Mace Pickett." When that book mentioned Mason I did presume that was the same person. I know better than that. The names were so close, and his wife was listed as "Miss Powell" and Mace married Elizabeth Powell. Maybe someone else made a presumption, too. I have a lot of verifying to do. When you say the family is well documented through Younger, you do mean from Henry down to Younger? I know that is a stupid question. A sister of my great grandmother had researched back to a Younger Pickett. I am hoping there aren't as many Younger Picketts are there are John Picketts! If I have more questions (which of course I will) may I email you direct or would you prefer me to keep posting messages? Notify Administrator about this message?
