While it's rather easy to find data on her first two husbands finding much on Irene is much harder.
The 1930 census showsshe was first married at age 21 (ca 1917). It also shows she had a son Francis Schock 10, born in CA. Anthony (Tony) can be found in the 1920 with his first wife Gertrude and daughter Helen. It looks like Anthony was born May 25 or 26, 1892 or 1893 in IL and died in Los Angeles on Feb 7, 1964. He can also be found in the 1910 and 1900 censuses.
The 1920 census shows Thomas F. Schock 29, Irene 22 and son Francis 1 1/12. Thomas WWI draft card shows he was born Nov 6, 1890. He died July 29, 1969 in Los Angeles. Thomas can also be found in the 1910 and 1900 censuses. Thomas Francis Schock's WWI draft card shows he had a wife and two children living in San Diego. Perhaps it's not the same one?
The only thing I found that comes close to finding an Irene Pickering born 1898 is one born in 1893 to a James Pickering of Washington County, PA. The problem is that she was still living with her parents in 1920. The same is true of an Irene born in 1896 in Indiana.
I did find a birth record for Charles Anthony Roth, born Oct 5, 1928 in Los Angeles. His mother's maiden name was Pickering.
I think the key is going to finding what name Irene died with and if she remarried. She probably married both husbands in California since they were already living there around the time they married. Her marriage records may answer your questions. Her death certificateand obituary may help too. Perhaps by tracking down data on her children it may lead you to her.
