Hi There,
While searching the 1851 and 1861 Census of St. Helens, (Windle) I wrote down all the Pickavance's I came to as I believe they are in my line also.An Edward Pickavance b. 1845 was with My Robert Bradbury as a g.son in 1851.
Anyway as I went along more kids with different last names appeared with my line so I wrote those down too.I don't know how they all connect yet but here's one that may interest you.
#3 Duke St. Windle, St. Helens.
ASHTON, John, 36, Collier, b. St. Helens, Mary wife, 34, James son, 15, collier, Joseph 13, Collier, Ann dau. 10, Henry 7, Sarah 5, Thomas 3, Elizabeth 3 mo., and finally Joseph PICKAVANCE nephew, 4 St. Helens.
So then I wrote down all the Ashtons too....but none with a wife called Ellen.
Of all that might fit your Thomas Ashton b. 1858 I found a Family like this:
1861 St. Helens #6 York St.
ASHTON, Thomas head, 29, watchmaker, Windle, Eliz. 29, wife, George Jameson S/I/L, 11
James Jameson S/I/L, 9, John Ashton son, 2, and Thos. Ashton son 6 mo. (b. abt. 1860)
That's it for now
Shelley
