I have been researching McCORMICK,some PIATT (not in my direct line) for about eight years. Someone recently saw your tree on ancestry questioning paternal side of Margaretta Jane McCORMICK who m. Dr. William Alphonzo PIATT and they lived in Cherry Tree, Indiana Co. PA. According to family history we have found, her gg-grandfather was Alexander McCORMICK - at one time he also lived Path Valley, Franklin Co. PA. From there, he moved abt. 1767 to Shavers Creek, Huntingdon Co. PA. Would welcome anything you may know about our McCORMICKs. We do not know who Alexander McCORMICK's parents are, at this time. May I ask what your source was for your 'paternal side' statement? Info. I have on PIATT family is: Rene PIATT b. ca. 1652 Dauphine Province FRANCE d. 16 Oct 1705 Piscataway NJ m. 13 Dec 1677 Woodbridge NJ Elizabeth SHEFFIELD - they had son Jacob PIATT b. 31 Oct 1678 Woodbridge NJ d. 1755 Path Valley, Franklin Co. PA (he was a farmer and Indian trader) m. 06 Jun 1703 Piscataway NJ Mary HULL (her parents were Samuel HULL and Mary MANNING) - they had son John PIATT Sr. b. ca. 1712 Bound Brook NJ d. 07 Jul 1760 on way to FRANCE to regain some of the family property (mention was made on old PIATT family history something to do with St. Domingo, Island of St. thomas, West Indies (now US Virgin Islands) - he owned sugar plantation in St. Thomas m. 1738 Somerset Co. [NJ] Frances Van VLIET b. ca. 1713 d. Aug 1776 (parents John Van VLIET + Margaret BRYNSON - they had son John PIATT Jr. b. 15 Jul 1740 Amsterdam HOLLAND d. 02 Mar 1819 Somerset Co. [NJ] (he was a Minute Man, Middlesex Co. NJ militia - cobbler at Three Mile Run, district of Somerset Co. PA) m. 27 Mar 1763 Six Mile Run NJ Jane WILLIAMSON (her parents Mathias WILLIAMSON + Susannah HALSTEAD. I had found this information on line, from what appeared to be an old family record of the PIATT/PYATT family. Please contact me through my e-mail address or here at the genealogy forum. Thanks!
