Advice for anyone considering cameras

I'm taking a digital photography course at college this fall.I was told by my future instructor to aim for the 3.34 and higher pixels.I did a lot of internet research, one being price and item comparison at http://www.pricegrabber.comhttp://www.pricegrabber.com.There are similar sites for comparison shopping, but Pricegrabber gives the bottom line price (average shipping plus taxes, if any), along with pictures and specs.I just ordered a Canon S-20 for $395 from a company that was out of state (=no sales tax) and has a current free shipping promo. That camera is selling at stores for between $500-700!(Note there is also an A-20, but that only gives 2.1 megapixels.) It's best to get a camera to which you can add attachments. All brands seem to be good, as long as you keep these qualifications in mind.
